Selva is Aayirathil Oruvan

Aayirathil oruvan is a roller coaster ride which starts with a great speed however loses it's balance at some point making the riders feel insecure.Firstly, would like to congratulate Selva for his brave attempt. He has broken all the conventions followed in Tamil cinema for years together.
The story moves at a very fast pace in the first half.It is about the archaeologists who take up a journey to find the missing ruins of the great chola rulers. The twists and turns shown is really amazing. However the post interval screen play and the climax is a big let down and makes this movie a good movie whereas it would have been a cult classic had the director had the audience in mind.
Andrea,Reema sen and Azhagam Perumal form the core team and Karthi plays the role of their assistant in this journey. The first half of the movie is crafted exceptionally well and near to perfection with such big grandeur. The journey is shown in such a way that it makes us feel the heat and pain the travellers experienced.
Karthi plays the role of coolie leader and helps the archaeologists in their mission. He has once again proved his mettle and proved that his first movie's performance is not a flash in the pan.Another notable performance which would be talked by every one has been given by none other than Reema sen. It's really amazing as to how the director made her to give such an extraordinary performance given the fact that she knows very little or no Tamil.
Other note worthy performances on screen is given by Parthiban who comes as the Chola king and Andrea who has done a decent job. The movie has lot of C.G work with high standards.Ramji, the Editor needs to be complimented for his stunning camera. The stunt men have taken much strain to prove that this is not an ordinary movie.Songs doesn't play a major role in this film and BGM by G.V could have been better.(Missed Yuvan a lot).
On the whole it is really wonderful to see a Tamil movie of this genre and would have been the best experience had the director concentrated more on the screen play and the climax which was not satisfactory.I would go with 3.6 out of 5 for efforts given by Selva and his team.
